I love arts and crafts. It also makes for wonderful kids entertainment. Letting children release their creativity allows for so much more than just artistic expression – it’s a means for them to develop their own individual identities. But do you DIY at home, or do you head to a venue that offers all the supplies and expert guidance you need? I like both! So, I’ve put together my 3 favorite Creative and Crafty Party Entertainment options in New York for the DIY parent and the let’s-get-out parent. Each is great for different moods and occasions. Let’s dive in.
DIY Creative and Crafty Party Entertainment in New York
Face Painting
Face painting is always a hit at parties, especially for children. Hire professional face painters who can transform your guests into their favorite characters, animals, or superheroes. And you know what? I happen to know a few fabulous face painters, hint hint. They can do any intricate or other worldly request yo can throw at them – they’re total pros, and they’re available at the click of a button.

DIY Terrariums or Succulent Gardens
Set up a station where guests can create their own terrariums or succulent gardens. Provide different types of plants, decorative rocks, and miniature figurines to add a personal touch to their creations. This takes a bit more effort, but it’s totally worth it. And I’ve found that kids really seem to like plants! They can even paint the pots different colors, making it a very personalized take-home gift.
Jewelry Making
This is also a great one that I’ve tried a few times. Arrange a jewelry-making workshop where guests can design and create their own bracelets, necklaces, or earrings. Provide a variety of beads, charms, and stringing materials for them to choose from. If you want to make it even more kid friendly, choose sweets that you can run string through that children can munch on later. I’ve run both simultaneously and kids love being able to pick – sometimes they just want to eat sugar!
