Have wild fun with a Jungle Safari Party at home or nearby park – or visit a local zoo for a look at the real thing!
A Jungle Safari Party works well for a wide range of ages and appeals to both boys and girls. Choose cute versions of jungle animals for younger children, but go fierce for an older child’s party. Here are some of the ways I’ve created the perfect jungle atmosphere:
Jungle Safari Invitations
As the host of a jungle-themed party, I want to create a fun and exciting atmosphere for my guests. To start things off, I make invitations with a drawing or photo of a favorite jungle animal like a monkey, zebra, tiger, or giraffe. Alternatively, I include a picture of a safari vehicle like a Jeep.

Jungle Safari Decor
To set the scene, I decorate with green, yellow, and orange balloons, green streamers, and real ivy, vines, palm fronds, and other available greenery. I also display plastic or stuffed jungle animal toys to add to the ambiance.
Jungle Safari Entertainment
For entertainment, I plan activities such as a barrel of monkeys game or pin the tail on the zebra. We’ll also go on a jungle safari where the kids can find pictures of jungle animals or use toy animals to create their own safari. And of course, we’ll watch Jungle Book or Tarzan movies to get everyone in the jungle spirit. To encourage creativity, I may also set up a crafting station where children can make animal masks, design tribal necklaces with cord and wooden beads, paint a jungle scene mural, or make jungle animals out of modeling clay or pipe cleaners.
Jungle Safari Fuel
When it’s time to eat, I serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, trail mix (nuts, raisins, and M&Ms), or critter crunch, and fruit kabobs or fruit salad. For a sweet treat, we decorate cupcakes with colored sugar and animal crackers or make jungle animal cupcakes.
Jungle Safari Fun Packs
As a parting gift, I send the guests home with toy binoculars or a disposable camera to capture their own jungle adventures. Alternatively, I fill favor bags with small plastic or stuffed jungle animals, finger puppets, stickers, and fruit leathers as a fun reminder of the jungle party.
Faqs:
How do you dress in the jungle?
Keep it on theme by having guests dress the part. Think hiking boots and lightweight, light-colored clothing – to blend in and keep the wild animals away!
