Richards Variety Store
Part toy store, part card shop, part party aisle, and an Atlanta fixture for decades. Richards is where you go when the party list also includes a gift, a card and something to keep a bored seven-year-old occupied in the car. The party section covers balloons, tableware, favors and the sort of daft novelty items that end up being the thing everyone remembers. There is a second store on Peachtree Road if Piedmont Avenue is not your side of town.

Balloons Over Atlanta
Not a general party shop but a dedicated balloon house, working Atlanta events since 1979 with Certified Balloon Artists on staff. This is the call to make when the balloons are the centerpiece rather than an afterthought — organic garlands, arches, columns and custom installations, plus helium tank rental and accessories if you would rather build it yourself. They keep weekday business hours rather than retail ones, so order ahead instead of dropping in on a Saturday.
