Party Shops in Denver: Where to Buy Supplies
Buying party supplies in Denver got harder.
3 hand-picked Denver spots
Party City filed for Chapter 11 in December 2024 and closed its stores through early 2025. The brand was bought out of bankruptcy by Ad Populum and has been returning as a shop-in-shop inside Staples locations, which is fine for a bag of balloons and less useful when you need a piñata by Saturday. The independents that were always here are now the whole story.
These three are real storefronts you can walk into, checked in July 2026. We have deliberately left off the supermarket party aisles and the delivery-only balloon services — useful, but not what you want when the party is tomorrow and you need to see the thing before you buy it.
FS Party Store (Fun Services)
12345 Huron St, Westminster, CO 80234
The big one, and the closest thing Denver still has to a full-range party store. FS Party Store has been serving north Denver for over 45 years, and carries balloons, party supplies, makeup, masks and costumes all year rather than only in the run-up to Halloween.
It is up in Westminster rather than in the city itself, which is the trade: you drive a bit further and you get actual range and staff who know the stock. The same operation runs party rentals separately, so if you also need tables, a bounce house or a popcorn machine, it is one phone call rather than three.
La Fiesta Flowers & Piñatas
2301 N Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80211
On Federal Boulevard in the Sloan's Lake area, and the place to go when the piñata matters. They will custom-make one to order — a character, a logo, a specific colour — with a couple of weeks' notice, which is the sort of thing no chain has done for years.
Walk-in stock covers the usual suspects if you have not planned that far ahead, and the flower side of the business means you can pick up something for the adults on the way out. Ring ahead for a custom build; two to three weeks is the working assumption.
Dulcería La Gota de Miel
399 Federal Blvd, Denver, CO 80219
A dulcería first and a party shop second, which is exactly why it earns a place here: piñatas, decorations, costumes and an outstanding Mexican candy aisle under one roof. If you have ever tried to fill a piñata from a supermarket sweets shelf, you will understand the difference immediately.
It sits on Federal Boulevard on Denver's west side. Prices are keen and the staff are patient with people who have wandered in with a vague idea and no list.
What happened to the chain party stores?
Party City entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December 2024 and wound down its corporate-owned stores through early 2025. The brand itself was bought by Ad Populum and has been reappearing as a section inside Staples stores rather than as standalone shops.
Practically, that means the reflex of "drive to the party store" no longer works the way it did in Denver. Check that a location is trading before you set off, and treat the independents above as the reliable option rather than the fallback.
How to shop for a kids' party without three separate trips
Decide the theme before you leave the house. Every shop here can dress a generic birthday, but a specific character is either in stock or it is not, and finding out in person costs you an afternoon.
Buy the piñata first and everything else around it — it is the item with a lead time, especially if you want it custom. Sweets, tableware and balloons can all be sorted the same week.
And order helium balloons for the day itself, not the day before. They sag overnight, and a deflated arch at nine in the morning is a bad start to a birthday.
Party Shops in Denver: Where to Buy Supplies — FAQs
Is there still a Party City in Denver?
Not as a standalone store. Party City filed for Chapter 11 in December 2024 and closed its stores through early 2025; the brand was later bought by Ad Populum and has been returning as a shop-in-shop inside Staples locations. For a full party shop in Denver you now want one of the independents — FS Party Store in Westminster has the widest range.
Where can you buy a piñata in Denver?
La Fiesta Flowers & Piñatas on North Federal Boulevard both stocks piñatas and makes them to order, usually on two to three weeks' notice. Dulcería La Gota de Miel on Federal Boulevard also carries piñatas alongside the Mexican candy to fill them, which saves a second stop.
What is the best party store in Denver for costumes?
FS Party Store in Westminster carries costumes, makeup and masks year-round rather than only around Halloween, which is unusual — most general party shops clear the costume racks in November.
