How to get the Starbucks birthday reward, step by step
- Join Starbucks Rewards at least 7 days before your birthday.[1]
- Add your birthday (month and day) to your account. Without it, there's no Birthday Reward.[1]
- Make at least one Star-earning purchase before your birthday, every year.[1]
- On your birthday, the reward is added to your account automatically.[1]
- Tell the barista you're redeeming it before you pay.[2]
- Scan your member barcode in the app, or show your registered Starbucks Card.[1]
The fine print
- Excludes multi-serve items, alcohol, merchandise and packaged coffee, and works at participating stores only.[1]
- Gold takes 500 Stars earned within 12 months of joining.[1]
- Guest checkouts don't earn Stars, so they don't count as your Star-earning purchase.[1]

Did that purchase actually earn Stars?
Starbucks doesn't award Stars when you check out as a guest. Sign in or scan your barcode so the purchase counts.[1]
