Central Ohio's gray stretch runs from November into April, and unlike Cleveland or Detroit this city has almost no outdoor party infrastructure to fall back on when it lifts: one seasonal water park, and after that the list is enclosed buildings. What Columbus does have is an unusual density of large purpose-built play venues, and they cluster. Three of the ten below sit within a mile of each other at Polaris, north of the outerbelt. Easton is northeast, Tuttle Crossing west, Bethel Road northwest, Reynoldsburg east and Grove City south. Pick for where your guest list lives rather than where you live, because a drive across I-270 quietly costs you RSVPs.
Below are ten venues we would happily send a friend to, grouped into indoor rooms, the bowling-skating-karting bracket, and the one place you can be outside. Every address was checked against the venue's own site in July 2026. We have deliberately not printed package prices: they change constantly, and a number that is wrong by the time you call is worse than none.

COSI
The science museum on the Scioto riverfront, a short walk west of downtown, and the default answer across most of the age range this guide covers. Three hundred-odd hands-on exhibits inside a 320,000-square-foot Arata Isozaki building, a dinosaur gallery and Ohio's largest planetarium. Very little of it needs an adult to explain it first, which is the quality that counts once you have fifteen children through the door.
Birthday bookings are private-room packages: two hours in a room of your own with food laid on, plus an admission wristband for every guest aged two and up. Reservations are arranged in advance. Read the house rules first — COSI's own list bans confetti, piñatas, helium balloons and costume characters outright.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus
Inside Easton Town Center on the northeast side, and written for three to ten specifically. Miniland rebuilds Columbus landmarks out of a million and a half bricks, and around it sit two indoor rides, a 4D theater, a Great LEGO Race virtual reality experience and open build stations.
Three party tiers, all built around a private LEGO-themed room with a host: an hour at the base, a private mascot meet-and-greet in the middle, and at the top a second hour, a build session with a Master Model Builder and a take-home model for every guest. The catch is the floor. Parties need a minimum of twenty guests and cap at forty-nine, so a small, tight guest list does not work here.

Fun City Adventure Park
The newest big room on this list, and the reason a lot of Columbus round-ups now read as out of date: 35,000 square feet on Bethel Road that opened in November 2024 in the shell of the old Cinemark movie theater. Trampoline courts, a ninja warrior course, a ropes course, foam and ball pits, climbing, dodgeball and a full arcade.
It is the closest thing on the northwest side to a party where nobody has to plan a single game. The park takes its party bookings through its own site, and the attraction list it publishes is not broken down by height rule — so if a four-year-old cousin is coming, check what they can get on before you promise it.

Slick City North Columbus
A waterless slide park on Polaris Parkway, open since June 2025: 38,000 square feet of slides taken at genuine water-park speed with no water anywhere, plus an air court built for parkour landings, climbing and basketball. It is the most novel venue here and the one your guests are least likely to have had a party at already.
Parties run two hours with the play time and the table time overlapping, come with a reserved table or a private room and a shared host, and are built around the birthday child plus nine guests. Send two things out with the invitations: everyone going past check-in needs a signed waiver and a wristband, parents included, and the park's grip socks are required.

Big Air Columbus
The Polaris trampoline park, and a refreshingly plain one — main court, extreme dodgeball, a battle beam, the Orbit, the Gauntlet and a zip line. The argument for a trampoline birthday has not changed in a decade: the venue is the entire activity, nobody has to run games, and the children reach the cake already spent.
Jump packages come in sixty-, ninety- and two-hour lengths, each with a reserved party area, a dedicated host, pizza, refillable drinks, grip socks and cleanup done for you. Two useful outliers sit either side: a Little Big Air party built around five guests rather than ten, handy for a small list, and a three-hour Cosmic Night party on Friday and Saturday evenings for older children.

Urban Air Adventure Park (Reynoldsburg)
The east-side option, out on East Livingston Avenue, and the only venue in this guide that is not in the northern half of the metro. It is a good deal more than trampolines: alongside the ProZone and APEX courts there is a ropes course, a Leap of Faith platform, climbing walls, the Sky Rider indoor zip line, a DropZone, a warrior course and a tubes playground for the smallest guests.
That spread is why you would choose it over a plain jump park — a mixed list of six- and eleven-year-olds will not run dry in the first half hour. The catch is that access is sold by height rather than age, with a separate pass for anyone under forty inches.

Scene75 Columbus
Start with the address, because the name misleads. Scene75 Columbus sits on the west side at the Mall at Tuttle Crossing, in the old Macy's box, and its own mailing address reads Dublin. Inside is the largest party venue here by a distance: 220,000 square feet over two floors of indoor go-karts, laser tag, blacklight mini golf, mini bowling, a spinning roller coaster and an arcade of more than two hundred games.
Fifteen event spaces mean a group of ten and a group of eighty are both catered for, and the attraction count makes it the safest bet for a guest list spanning several ages. Parties are arranged through a sales coordinator rather than an online flow, and the deposit is non-refundable.

Star Lanes Polaris
Bowling with the volume turned up: conventional lanes plus HyperBowling, the sensor-and-lights format this was the first venue in Ohio to install, alongside a large arcade and an XD theater ride bundled into both party packages. Of everything on this list it is the one least likely to feel babyish to a ten-year-old.
Packages run either ninety minutes of bowling with an hour of reserved party space, or a straight two hours of lanes, with shoes, a host, food portioned per head, bottomless soft drinks and arcade credit included. Three constraints to plan around: nine guests minimum, bookings at least forty-eight hours ahead with no walk-ins, and guests under eighteen need a guardian aged twenty-five or over, one for every six minors.

Skate America
A real roller rink in Grove City, south of the city, running a format that has not needed updating in forty years: skating, a spin of the prize wheel for the birthday child, an announcement over the PA, and a room of children who are tired in the good way by the end.
The standard package covers admission and skate rental for every guest, table settings, reserved seating, invitations and unlimited soft drinks, with the birthday child skating free and attending parents admitted free; it is built around ten guests. There is also a full private rental — two hours of the whole building for up to 150 people, with a live DJ and a party coach.

Zoombezi Bay
The Columbus Zoo's water park in Powell, twenty minutes north of downtown, and the only genuinely outdoor booking in this guide. The party unit is the Jack Hanna Party Cabana near Baboon Lagoon: a private shaded cabana for up to twelve with loungers, two dining tables and eight chairs, a stocked fridge, a pin-code safe and food brought out by mobile order.
Two things decide whether it works. The season, which runs from the middle of May to early September and nothing outside it, so an October birthday is not having one here. And the admission, which the cabana does not include — every guest still needs a park ticket on top. Twelve is a hard ceiling, so this is a small-party venue.

Why did we pick these Columbus party venues?
Three tests, the same three we apply everywhere. The venue has to run birthdays as an actual program — a package, a host, a room — rather than just letting you rent a corner. It has to suit a clear age band, because the place that thrills a four-year-old bores an eleven-year-old inside twenty minutes. And it has to still be open, under the name and at the address we have printed.
That last test is where Columbus gets interesting, because two of the ten above are newer than most of the round-ups you will find. Fun City Adventure Park opened in November 2024 in the shell of the old Cinemark movie theater on Bethel Road, and Slick City opened on Polaris Parkway in June 2025. Scene75 cuts the other way: it operates as Scene75 Columbus, but its own address is in Dublin, at the Mall at Tuttle Crossing, so check which side of town you are agreeing to. We also left off Franklin Park Conservatory, which appears on every list of handsome Columbus venues — its own site sells the gardens as a room rental, not as a children's birthday program. Everything above was checked in July 2026 against the venue's own site plus an independent source.
How to pick the right one
Start with the age. Under six, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Columbus, which is written for three to ten, and COSI, which is happy with anyone who can push a button. Six to nine, Slick City, Big Air, Fun City Adventure Park and Skate America. Nine and up, Scene75, Star Lanes Polaris and Urban Air's warrior course.
Then the calendar and the map. Zoombezi Bay runs from mid-May to early September and is shut the rest of the year, which means that from November to April the indoor list above is not one option among several; it is the whole list. After that, pick by where your guests live. Polaris holds Big Air, Slick City and Star Lanes within a mile of each other, and getting from there to Reynoldsburg or Grove City is a real drive.
Finally, work out what the venue is actually giving you. Most supply the activity, and several supply a host to run the room. What almost none supply is a performer — and COSI is unusually blunt about it, banning costume characters from its party rooms outright. A face painter, balloon artist or magician is a separate booking, and occasionally not permitted at all.
