10–15 min
How long
- Clear a strip of floor and name one wall "first answer" and the opposite wall "second answer".
- Read a question out loud and count down from three.
- Everyone runs to the wall that matches their pick. Nobody is ever "out".

Frequently asked questions
- What age are would you rather questions good for?
- From about age 3, if the choices are simple and concrete (puppy or kitten). The "Quick picks" group is written for that age. Questions that ask kids to imagine consequences ("know your future or change your past") land best from about age 8. Use the age filter to show only the questions for the youngest child in the room.
- How do you play would you rather at a birthday party?
- The easiest version is Pick a Side: read a question, and kids run to the wall that matches their answer. Nobody is eliminated, so it works with mixed ages. For a seated version, use thumbs up and thumbs down. For older kids, have teams argue for their pick and award points.
- How many questions do I need for a party?
- About 10 questions fill a 10-minute round, because each one gets a quick "why?" from a couple of kids. Pick 15 to be safe, from the topic that fits your party theme.
- What makes a good would you rather question for kids?
- Both choices should be tempting, or both silly, so there is no obvious right answer, and both should be things a child can picture. Avoid choices about appearance, other kids or anything scary, which can make a game feel like teasing.
